As the kids' in the nearby houses were busy preparing for their exams in the last 2 weeks, one of the neighborhood aunties was a little too enthusiastic (and too) about her 6 years old sons' studies! 4 days before the exams, she would get him to the terrace every evening and make him study for about 2 hours. Their terrace being at just the same height as that of my room, I can easily see and hear whats happening there. One of the evenings, I was doing some work on the computer and suddenly heard the aunty shouting at the poor kid probably for not being attentive to what she was teaching. He was busy watching the birds flying back home while aunty was having trouble teaching some history (or social sciences probably) to him. My ears turned towards the terrace! It was a History class the chapter described something related to 'aadivaasi's. Aunty was having tough time explaining things (or should I say the kid was having tough time understanding what his mother was trying to explain ;) )
The kid asked some doubt related to languages spoken by different people
Aunty: Every community has its own language. Like Marathi people speak Marathi (wow!), Marwadi people speak Marwadi. (This much was understood) ... Like that, wadari people have wadari language.
The last stmt appeared difficult for the small kid. After a pause of about 30 seconds of deep thinking in silence, the kid asked 'mummy what is 'wadari'?
And the aunty bursted out 'You idiot! Dont act too smart! Just do as is being told to you! Just learn it! Don't eat my head'

Poor kid! The aunty in the first place is using words that he is hearing first time in his life and he is not even allowed to ask questions! Little did he know asking questions to gain knowledge was such a big mistake!
And we say our education system is not taking us nowhere! :)
